Fong Yuen Study Hall (Seniro Fong Yuen)
Located in Tin Liu Village Ma Wan, Fong Yuen Study Hall, formerly named “Chan Study Hall”, was first built by the Chan clan before the 1900s as a small rural private school. In the 1920s to 30s, the Chan Study Hall was rebuilt into a two-storey building with a mix of Chinese and Western characteristics and renamed as "Fong Yuen Study Hall" (also nicknamed as "Senior Fong Yuen (大芳園”). It was the first and the only primary school on the island at the very beginning. With the expansion of the village, a second single-storey Fong Yuen Study Hall also nicknamed as "Junior Fong Yuen" (小芳園) was built nearby, which is now preserved in-situ and converted to Ma Wan Heritage Centre. In 2008, the original Fong Yuen Study Hall (Senior Fong Yuen) was selected as the first batch of buildings for the “Revitalizing Historic Buildings through Partnership.
